In this one-hour free workshop, Tina and Kristen will discuss which stories of your life can be used to build a book, and how the stories you choose ultimately determine what kind of book you want to write.

Together, Tina and Kristen will discuss:

  • How to unpack the stories to find their true message

  • How to write about real people - even the ones who hurt us

  • Why the stories we choose can not only change our genre but how people will connect with our book

  • What it means to "kill your darlings" and why no story ever needs to die

Tina Strawn is the author of "Are we free yet? The Black Queer Guide to Divorcing America" coming out on January 17, 2023 from Row House Publishing. As Tina's book coach, Kristen McGuiness worked with Tina to find, develop, and organize her life story into a guide for all people looking to better understand the paths to liberation, joy, and activism, and to finding love wherever they called home.

Unpacking Your Story - Finding the Teachable Tales from Your Life is a free event to help you find your best stories, and understand how our truths can not only help us to heal ourselves, but free each other.
